Hey There

Hi, I’m Mira, a solo hiker, peak bagger, chaos magnet.
I created Boots & Banter to share the real stuff: the glorious highs, the wet socks, the "what was I thinking" climbs. All from one woman walking it out alone.
This isn’t a how-to blog. It’s a “here’s-what-happened-and-here’s-what-I-ate-on-a-rock” kind of blog.

Person sitting on a rock looking out over a mountain landscape under blue sky.

All About Me

Hi, I’m lover of mountains, muddy boots, and slightly unhinged hiking goals.

Boots & Banter was born out of a deep love for the hills, a lot of personal growth, and the kind of conversations you have mid-ascent, when your legs are burning and your soul is flying.

When I’m not out on the hills, I work a regular job in tech, a life of logic, structure, and screens that makes muddy boots feel even more necessary. At weekends, I swap screens for summits and occasionally demonstrate a spectacular disregard for the shortest route.

Over the last few years, hiking has become more than a hobby. It’s how I reconnect with myself, push past limits, and chase joy (and occasionally, sheep). In autumn 2025, I completed all 214 Wainwrights, and that same summer I tackled the Welsh 15, climbing all fifteen Welsh 3,000-foot peaks within 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Peak District keeps me busy with Ethels, trig points, long skyline routes and the occasional completely unnecessary detour.

And just because I've finished the Wainwrights doesn't mean I've finished with the Lake District. Far from it. These days I return for different adventures, exploring the wilder side of the fells through scrambles, rocky routes and places that once seemed a little beyond my comfort zone.

In July 2026, a new mountain chapter began in Scotland, when I properly started my Munro journey. Bigger mountains, longer days, unfamiliar terrain and a whole new collection of summits to explore. With 282 Munros out there, I suspect Scotland will be keeping me entertained for quite some time.

But this space isn’t just about bagging summits. It’s about the banter, the unexpected turns, and the stories that happen between the steps.

I don’t wait for a group or perfect conditions. I love heading out solo, setting my own pace and following my curiosity, although the weather and terrain still get a vote. Planned routes have a remarkable tendency to evolve once I'm out there.

And this little corner of the internet? I built it myself. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Did I know what I was doing when I started? Debatable. But much like my hiking adventures, I figured things out along the way, took a few unnecessary detours and eventually got somewhere. It's not perfect, but it's mine, and every page and story has a little piece of me in it.

If you’ve ever taken a "short cut" that added two hours, packed three flapjacks for a 10-hour hike, or chased a goal you once thought was impossible you’ll fit right in.

Let’s climb things, talk nonsense, and make memories.
